With more individual winners this season than any other stallion, as well as 10 Australian Stakes winners, Commands was represented by Stakes-winning four-year-old mare Kanzan on May 21.
After victory in the Listed Darley Crown at her last start, the Peter Snowden-trained Kazan headed north to Brisbane and started one of the favoured runners in the G3 Glenlogan Park Stakes.
Racing in the maroon and white silks of Sheik Mohammed, Kanzan settled midfield and once the field rounded the home turn, she came with a sustained burst of speed down the outside of the field to defeat Zero Rock by a quarter of a length.
The manner of the victory would suggest the 1400m of the G1 Winter Stakes at the end of the Brisbane winter carnival is well within Kanzan's grasp, but first she will head towards the G2 Dane Ripper Stakes.
Bred by Woodlands Stud, Kanzan is out of the winning Grand Lodge Cherry Lodge and is a half-sister to the G3 performer Giresun (Domesday), from the family of Stakes horse Liberty Rose, Liberty Hall, Tantra and Elusive Wonder.
Commands will stand the forthcoming breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $66,000 (inc GST).
