Two-year-old Street Sense colt Street Hunter created history on June 9, becoming his sires first winner when scoring emphatically by eight lengths over 1200m at weight-for-age race in Kyoto, Japan.
Bred by Northern Racing, the Katsuhiko Sumii-trained Street Hunter is out of a Freud mare Quick Little Miss, herself a Stakes-winning juvenile in the US, went one better than his first start where he finished second. From the family of international G1 winners Sky Diva and Pure Clan, Street Hunter has juvenile speed throughout his pedigree as well as Classic abilities.
Street Sense, the best son of the globally-acclaimed Street Cry, was the leading first-crop sire by yearling average and had offspring sell up to $575,000 during the 2011 yearling sales. A Champion two-year-old, Street Sense's first-crop of southern hemisphere progeny will get every chance with his yearlings purchased by prominent industry participants; Mark Kavanagh, Tim Martin, Julian Blaxland's Blue Sky Thoroughbreds, Grahame Begg and Neville Parnham.
Street Sense will again serve a quality band of mares during the forthcoming breeding season where he will stand at Darley Kelvinside for $38,500 (inc GST), along side his super sire father Street Cry, who will stand at $110,000 (inc GST).
