Royal Applause's juvenile son Saigon remained unbeaten on Friday July 15 when he battled well to land the six-furlong Listed Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury. A debut winner at Yarmouth, there are no immediate plans for the promising colt although a trip back to Newbury for the G2 Mill Reef Stakes could be on the cards.
Bred by R Dollar, T Adams & G F Pemberton, Saigon was sold as a yearling for 45,000Gns and is a half-brother to the Stakes winner Tabaret. His dam, Luanshya has also produced a full-brother foal to Saigon this year.
Royal Applause, who stands at the Royal Studs, is famed for siring early-maturing speedy juveniles. Saigon becomes his 20th juvenile Stakes winner and he has never failed to sire a two-year-old Stakes performer in any of his 11 crops of racing age.
