Three-year-old Marketing Mix, by Medaglia d'Oro, posted a decisive victory July 31 in the $250,000 Wonder Where Stakes by five lengths on the Woodbine turf course. It was the first career Stakes win for the filly, who has also placed in the Woodbine Oaks and Fury Stakes in 2011.
In her turf debut, the daughter of Medaglia d'Oro showed she was a force to be reckoned with during the one and one-quarter mile event. Positioned mid-pack, Marketing Mix strategically slipped past the field on the inside where she took command of the lead and surged to victory.
Bred in Ontario by Sean Fitzhenry, Marketing Mix is a daughter of the Kris S. mare Instant Thought. Her second dam is G3-placed Nimble Mind, who is a full-sister to G1 winner Contredance, G2 winner Skimble, and G3 winner Shotiche.
A successful young sire, Medaglia d'Oro is the sire of the exceptional Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra. His daughter Plum Pretty followed in her footsteps this year with a victory in the G1 Kentucky Oaks, the sire's second Oaks winner in just three years. He has also been represented in 2011 by G1 winner C. S. Silk, G2 winner Vision In Gold, and G3 winner Super Espresso, among others. Medaglia d'Oro stands for $77,000 inc. GST at Kelvinside, NSW.
