Exceed And Excel two-year-old filly Sajwah posted her first Stakes victory on September 1, winning the Listed Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes over 1200m at Salisbury, United Kingdom, by one-and-a-half-lengths.
The Shadwell Estate Company-bred filly is out of the Stakes performed Linamix mare Tahrir and became the first Listed winner for trainer Charlie Hills, who recently took over from his father Barry.
Winning on debut at Warwick in May over the same distance and Sajwah was fifth on her most recent previous outing in the G2 Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket behind Bernardini filly Gamilati. The lightly raced filly holds an entry for the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes later this month.
Exceed And Excel continues to enjoy a superb season in the northern hemisphere which has included impressive performances from the G1 Nunthorpe Stakes winner Margot Did, dual G2 winner Excelebration and the unbeaten juvenile filly Best Terms, while in the recently completed southern hemisphere racing season, the dual G1-winning son of Danehill was represented by 23 individual two-year-old winners highlighted by dual G1 winner Helmet.
Exceed And Excel is standing the current breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $66,000 (inc GST).
