Three-year-old Medaglia d'Oro filly Elusive Pearl showed her talent in the Riskaverse Stakes on September 2 at Saratoga. Nailing her first Stakes victory, Elusive Pearl was entering off a solid Stakes-placed effort at Woodbine in July and a seven length Allowance victory in June.
After jumping away swiftly, Elusive Pearl settled just off the pace, then at the top of the straight the filly took command and was never challenged over the concluding stages over the 1600m on turf.
Elusive Pearl was bred by Woodlawn Breeding Inc. and is out of the Stakes-placed mare Brazen Bride, by Miswaki. The mare is a half-sister to Baston Challenge, who placed in the G3 Rebel Stakes, as well as Stakes winner Movant.
An international power, Medaglia d'Oro is the sire of seven G1 winners on all surfaces. Among them is the magnificent Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, 2011 G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty, and G1 Carter Handicap winner Warrior's Reward. Standing at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $77,000 (inc. GST), Medaglia d'Oro's progeny have earned more than $21 million to date.
