Two-year-old Seaside Magic became Hard Spun's thirteenth winner on September 4, winning her debut in a Maiden Special Weight at Parx Racing, USA.
During the 1100m race the filly set the pace from the inside. Coming around the home turn the filly was challenged and then kicked on past competitors to draw clear for the win.
Seaside Magic was bred by Michael Ranier and is out of Enduring Will, by Arch. The mare was a Stakes winner at two and was Graded-placed at three. Seaside Magic has a yearling half-sister by Medaglia d'Oro.
Hard Spun's thirteen winners leads all US freshman sires and has posted winners across the globe, including Red Duke who won the G2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket. Hard Spun is a brilliant son of Danzig who was victorious in Saratoga's prestigious G1 King's Bishop Stakes, among others and is standing the current southern hemisphere breeding season at Northwood Park, Victoria, at a fee of $16,500 (ic GST).
