Miblish stayed on gamely to become the twelfth winner for his first-season sire Teofilo, landing a competitive Newbury maiden on debut over 1400m on Saturday.
Trained by Clive Brittain for Saeed Manana, Miblish was bred by Neville Poole and George Thornton from the Hector Protector mare Triton Dance.
A big solid colt, there looks to be plenty more to come from Miblish, who tracked the leaders before taking up the running a furlong from home and holding off a late challenge from Kaafel.
Teofilo’s first-crop scorers include the G3 winner Remember Alexander, Listed winner Teolane and the G2-placed Parish Hall. The unbeaten son of Galileo is standing the current southern hemisphere breeding season at Darley Kelvinside for $22,000 (inc. GST).
