Marketing Mix earned her first black type victory at the end of July with a dominant win in the Wonder Where Stakes at Woodbine. The three-year-old daughter of Medaglia d'Oro headed south though for the G3 Pucker Up Stakes at Arlington Park on September 17 and proved turf was certainly her forte continuing her winning-streak and becoming the newest Graded winner for her sire.
During the 1800m event Marketing Mix settled in prime stalking position just off the pace. She made her move around the turn and kicked clear in the stretch to prove much the best and earn herself a spot in the winner's circle once again.
Marketing Mix was bred by Sean Fitzhenry and is out of the Kris S. mare Instant Thought. Her second dam is the Graded-placed mare Nimble Mind, who is a full-sister to G1 winner Contredance, G2 winner Skimble, and G3 winner Shotiche.
Marketing Mix becomes the sixth Graded Stakes winner for Medaglia d'Oro in 2011 alone. He is the sire of G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty and G1 Just A Game Handicap winner C. S. Silk. His other Graded winners are Vision In Gold, Super Espresso, and Devil By Design. Medaglia d'Oro's most noteworthy daughter is Horse of the Year and supermare Rachel Alexandra.
Medaglia d'Oro is set to cover an exceptional line up of mares during his second southern hemisphere season, where he is standing at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $77,000 (inc. GST).
