Gethin, a first-crop son of Ghaiyyath, impressed on debut on Wednesday, 9 October when running away with a £30k Novice at Nottingham. Trained by Owen Burrows, he handled the deep ground with aplomb and pulled clear inside the final furlong to record a six-length triumph.
Bred by Elysian Bloodstock, Gethin is a half-brother to Shamardal’s three-time Stakes winner Global Giant. His dam, the Stakes-placed Dalakhani mare Aniseed, hails from the top family of Arcanangues, Cape Verdi and Luxembourg.
The progeny of Ghaiyyath are starting to impress and Gethin was his second debutant winner this week after the William Haggas trained Rhapsody at Yarmouth. Beverley scorer Stanhope Gardens will try to emulate his sire on Saturday when lining up in the G3 Autumn Stakes at Newmarket.
Ghaiyyath stands this season at a fee of $27,500 Inc GST.
