Four-year-old filly Manaafith was a new Stakes winner for her sire Exceed And Excel when easily landing the 8f Listed Tandridge Stakes at Lingfield on Saturday, 4 February. Trained by Roger Varian, Manaafith was recording her third straight win and sixth career victory.
Settled towards the rear for most of the race by jockey Jim Crowley, Manaafith made her move down the centre of the track and with a furlong to run she showed a good turn of foot to get the upper hand on her rivals as she hit the front in the closing stages to win by one-and-three-quarter lengths going away.
Owned and bred by Shadwell, Manaafith is out of the Dubawi-winning mare Almashooqa.
Exceed And Excel achieved a milestone last year when becoming the sire of 200 individual Stakes winners, he has also sired 102 individual Group winners with 17 of those winning at the highest level. He is the world’s best sire of two-year-olds with 85 juvenile Stakes winners and has also been Champion Sire in Hong Kong on three occasions.
