Elite Street showed he is primed to defend his G1 Winterbottom Stakes crown and also continued a brilliant run for his sire Street Boss when he scored a stylish win in the $150,000 G3 Colonel Reeves Stakes at Ascot in Perth on Saturday, 13 November.
Ridden by regular jockey Brad Rawiller, Elite Street made it three wins in succession by beating Graceful Girl and Long Beach, running a slick 1min 3.39sec in the 1,100m sprint after racing wide and coming from nearly last on the home turn.
The five-year-old gelding, out of the Exceed And Excel mare Elite Ateates, had won the Listed R.S. Crawford Stakes and the G3 Prince Of Wales Stakes both over 1,000m at Ascot since resuming.
Just a few weeks after Anamoe (Street Boss out of Animato, by Redoute's Choice) won the G1 Caulfield Guineas and finished an unlucky second after suffering interference in the G1 Cox Plate in Melbourne, Elite Street confirmed his reputation as the best sprinter in the west.
The chestnut took his race record to eight wins and one placing from 16 starts for prizemoney of $1,031,380.
Bred by Western Australia-based Anita Vale Stud who remained in the ownership group, Elite Street is trained by Daniel Morton.
Street Boss was dual G1 winner who won seven and was placed in four of his 13 race starts. He has since sired 55 Stakes winners worldwide.
Street Boss stands at Darley’s Kelvinside in the Hunter Valley for a service fee of $55,000, including GST.
