When you combine the 11-time G1 winner Lonhro with two-time G1 winner Mnemosyne, the result is the dual G1 winner Impending, the impressive product of two Champions.
There is a lot to look forward to when you hear the name Impending. His positive sales ring results have flowed on through to the 2021 weanling sales with confident bidding from buyers.
Impending recorded three six-figure weanlings at the Inglis Great Southern Sale. Early in the sale, catalogued as Lot 15, was a colt out of Keltara (Exceed And Excel).
Bred on the same cross as G1 winner Bounding (Lonhro), this colt proved an ideal for pinhookers securing $120,000 to Landsdowne Park who confirmed he will be reoffered as a yearling at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Karaka Sale in 2022.
Following this result, Binalong Bloodstock went to $175,000 for a colt out of the five-time city winning mare Florelle offered as Lot 368.
Mitchell Bloodstock, a strong supporter of Impending having purchased a filly at Inglis’s Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale in March, returned to the stallion’s progeny purchasing Lot 41 for $105,000 on behalf of an undisclosed client who will either send her back through at the 2022 yearling sales or retain her to race. This filly was closely related to the G2 winner Ringerdingding.
Now to Impending’s rising two-year-olds. His first crop includes the progeny of Champions Guelph (Exceed And Excel), a colt in work for Godolphin and James Cummings alongside barn mate and another well-bred colt out of the sister to Pierro.
Leading the Victorian Trainers’ Premiership is Ciaron Maher and David Eustace have five Impending’s in their stable, four purchased by Ciaron Maher Bloodstock at the yearling sales and another, Jemeka’s first foal, a colt who didn’t see a yearling sales ring and reportedly sold privately for a large sum.
Another leading stable to jump on Impending’s first crop were Team Hawkes who secured the half-sibling to In Her Time for $240,000 at Inglis Easter – the colt has been named Scorch.
Other first-crop trainers include Bussutin Young Racing, Ellerton Zahra Racing, Lindsay Park Racing, Michael Moroney, Mick Price Racing, McEvoy Mitchell Racing and Phillip Stokes Racing.
Impending has covered 502 mares in three seasons and will cover another full book for the 2021 season, indicating the confidence both buyers and breeders have in him.
