A rare combination of class and determination carried the Street Boss colt Anamoe to victory in the G2 Todman Stakes at Randwick on Saturday, 6 March and put himself firmly into calculations for the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes.
Having his first Sydney start after campaigning in Melbourne where he was a luckless third in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes at his previous run, Anamoe responded strongly when he gained clear running, overhauling the runner-up Profiteer in the final few strides to win by a-head.
Anamoe’s triumph in a race rated as the strongest juvenile event in Australia so far this season has pushed him to the front of discussions on the world’s richest juvenile race, the Golden Slipper, run at Rosehill on Saturday, 20 March.
The Godolphin colt had raced four times in Melbourne prior to the Todman, winning at Sandown at his second start in November last year and finishing third in the Blue Diamond two weeks ago.
The colt is out of the Redoute’s Choice mare Anamato, a G1 winner in Australia who also finished third in the G1 American Oaks at Hollywood Park. He is a half-brother to three winners including the Listed winner Anamba (Shamardal).
Street Boss is celebrating a phenomenal season having recorded 11 Stakes horses with his progeny winning sought-after races like the G1 Winterbottom Stakes, G2 Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) and G2 Todman Stakes.
Street Boss is due to commence his next southern hemisphere season this year at Darley’s Northwood Park stud in Victoria.
