Isabella Giles, a first-crop daughter of Belardo, became her sire’s first Group winner when readily taking the G3 Prestige Stakes over seven furlongs at Goodwood on Saturday, 29 August. Prominent throughout, the two-year-old filly forged a path down the centre of the track under jockey Adam Kirby. Powering clear with a furlong to travel, Isabella Giles recorded a dominant victory by an impressive seven lengths with Prado, a daughter of Iffraaj, staying on for second.
Bred by Ballylinch Stud, Isabella Giles is a half-sister to the Listed-winning Majestic Colt out of Dubawi’s G3 Firth Of Clyde Stakes victrix Majestic Dubawi. She is out of a Singspiel daughter of the winning Caerleon mare South Shore, a half-sister to G1 Lockinge Stakes winner Soviet Line. This is the extended family of G2 Vintage Stakes hero Dark Vision and G3 Round Tower Stakes victor Lope Y Fernandez.
A European Champion two-year-old and G1-winning miler, Belardo is the sire of seven individual first-crop winners. Isabella Giles was the second winner of the day at Goodwood for her sire with another daughter, Lullaby Moon, running out an impressive four-and-three-quarter length victory earlier on the card.
