The first meeting since the resumption of racing in Ireland took place at Naas on Monday, 8 June and the first Black Type race on the card, the Listed Committed Stakes, was won in fine style by Punita Arora, a three-year-old daughter of Sepoy.
Settled off the early pace, the Jessica Harrington-trained filly demonstrated a brilliant turn of foot in the final 200m of the 1,100m contest and kept on superbly to win by a length.
This was her second career victory, having won a 1,000m maiden at Navan last July.
Punita Aroro was bred by Shadwell and is out of the winning Pivotal mare Wojha.
Sepoy was a Champion two-year-old, winning both the Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond. He went on to become World Champion three-year-old Sprinter after victories in the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and G1 Manikato.
He has now sired 17 individual Black Type winners, including multiple G1 winner Alizee and G1-placed duo Indian Blessing and Dabyah.
Sepoy stands at Northwood Park Stud at a fee of $7,700 including GST.
