NEWS: Buyers listed added to for the progeny of first-season sire Astern

At a session where the average price settled at $92,000, a pair of Astern yearlings proved above average with buyers.

The best result for the son of Medaglia d’Oro came with Lot 165, a filly from the winning Duporth mare Gone To Paris who made $105,000, and was knocked down to Chinese buyer Breeze Up Bloodstock.

Gone To Paris is one of eight winners from her dam Golden Pedigree, the best of them the four-time city winner Aristocratic Miss.

Astern made a big impact on the local market when his first Australian-bred yearlings went under the hammer at the Magic Millions Gold Coast sale in January, a top price of $725,000 being paid for a colt from the Anabaa mare Zimaretto, bred by Harry Mitchell.

The next highest price for an Astern yearling on day one was the $100,000 paid by Australian Bloodstock for a filly from the Stakes-winning mare Key Bar Nights offered by Divali Thoroughbreds.

The filly is a half sister to five winners including Barbed whose most significant success came in the Listed Heritage Stakes.
