Who Dares Wins overpowered his opposition in Saturday’s G3 Canterbury Gold Cup at Riccarton to make it two Black Type wins from two starts this season, providing his sire Iffraaj with a new Group winner in the process.
After pulling off a victory over a mile in the Listed Easter Cup earlier this month, Who Dares Wins stepped up another two furlongs and produced an even stronger performance, coming away over the final half-furlong to win by a length. He now has 11 wins to his name.
Who Dares Wins was bred by Mrs R M Laffey and Mrs M A Wallace and is one of five winners out of the Stakes-placed mare Wee Tipple.
Iffraaj, also sire of multiple G1 winners and young Darley stallions Ribchester and Jungle Cat, has eight Black Type performers to his name so far this year, including G2 Zabeel Mile winner Mythical Magic.
Iffraaj will stand the coming season in New Zealand under the Darley stallions banner at Haunui Stud.
