Being a son of Champion sire Dubawi out of a Galileo mare, Night Of Thunder had the pedigree to be great from day one. Physically he looked an athlete and his all-star performances on the racetrack secured him a position on the Darley stallion roster.
An undefeated Stakes winner at two, Night Of Thunder returned as a three-year-old to defeat one of the strongest fields ever assembled for the G1 2,000 Guineas run over the Newmarket mile, including nine current or future G1 winners; notably Charm Spirit and Kingman who both stand at stud.
Trained throughout his career by Richard Hannon, the four-year-old returned in 2015 to claim his second win at G1 level with a brilliant victory in the Lockinge Stakes.
In addition to his two G1 victories, he was placed at the highest level on three occasions and retired with earnings of over €1,100,000.
Night Of Thunder retired to stud in 2016 and stood his first northern hemisphere season at Kildangen Stud in Ireland before shuttling to Northwood Park in Victoria for the 2016 southern hemisphere season.
Described as a ‘horse with a marvelous attitude and temperament’ and with a ‘fantastic blend of speed and determination’, 16 yearlings by this talented freshman are catalogued for the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
Offered on day one is this colt presented as Lot 102. His dam, Celtic Cutie, is an Irish bred mare by Teofilo and was imported to Australia in 2012. She is the half-sister to two Stakes winners.
