Ninth Street took the lead on the far turn and continued to pull away in the stretch on his way to a six-length victory in the Jean Lafitte Stakes at Delta Downs Oct. 20.
Victory in the Jean Lafitte marked the first Stakes win for the two-year-old son of Street Boss, as he improved his record to two wins, one second and a third from six career starts.
Bred in Kentucky by his owners, H.V. Farms, Ltd., Ninth Street is out of Plan Nine, a winning daughter of Mizzen Mast. Ninth Street’s female family also boasts the Stakes winners Green’s Belle and Infield Shift.
In addition to Ninth Street, Street Boss is the sire of Hence, winner of the Governor’s Cup Stakes and the Downs at Albuquerque Stakes this year. Street Boss is also the sire of such standouts as Rapper Dragon, Horse of the Year in Hong Kong and winner of the Hong Kong Derby (a local G1) and the G2 Chairman’s Trophy; Cathryn Sophia, winner of the 2016 G1 Kentucky Oaks, and Decked Out, winner of the G1 American Oaks.
Street Boss is standing the current breeding season at Northwood Park at a fee of $27,500 (inc. GST).
