A new Classic campaign took shape for Godolphin colt Kementari with his resounding victory in the G3 Eskimo Prince Stakes at Warwick Farm on Satruday, 10 February.
The runner-up in last spring’s G1 Caulfield Guineas, the son of Lonhro will now proceed to next month’s G1 Randwick Guineas in Sydney.
Kementari had established himself among Australia’s best three-year-olds of last spring, and his latest win over the highly-regarded Siege Of Quebec showed he had returned to racing in the same vein, and perhaps even better.
Given a conservative ride by Glyn Schofield, Kementari was positioned behind the leaders on the fence, conceding a two-length start to his main rival at the 300m. Once clear, Kementari reeled in Seige Of Quebec and went to the line untouched to win by two and three-quarter lengths.
Kementari is a half-brother to the Stakes winner Telperion, out of the winning Redoute’s Choice mare Yavanna. Yavanna’s dam Wild Queen was a G3 winner and one of three Stakes winners produced by Kementari’s third dam Crowning Jewel (Bletchingly).
The victory made him Lonhro’s 71st Stakes winner.
Lonhro stands at Kelvinside, NSW, at a fee of A$66,000 including GST.
