Another impressive winning effort in the Listed Dunedin Guineas at Wingatui on February has promoted Exceed And Excel filly Excelleration to a new level among New Zealand’s three-year-olds.
Coming off wins at her previous two starts, the most recent in the Listed Gore Guineas on 20 January, Excelleration showed she was a class above her opposition, cruising to a two-length victory over Global Thinking.
Excelleration settled at the rear with rider and after making the home turn the widest of the 14 runners, the filly stamped her authority on the race with 300m to run and was untouched in the run to the line.
The filly bred by Pee Gee and WJ Bloodstock and partners is one of Exceed And Excel’s 143 stakes winners.
Excelleration is the first foal of her dam Abeautifulred, a winning daughter of Handsome Ransom and a half-sister to the Australian G2 winner Bird Of Fire.
