Enticed battled with Tiz Mischief through the stretch before putting away his rival in the shadow of the wire to win the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes by a head at Churchill Downs November 25.
Making just his third career start, the two-year-old son of Medaglia d’Oro overcame trouble on the first turn which resulted in Diamond King stumbling and losing his rider. As the field raced on the backstretch, Enticed was rated in fourth, stalking the frontrunners while only about two lengths off the lead.
As the field swept through the far turn, Enticed began closing on the leaders in the clear on the outside. In the stretch, Enticed and Tiz Mischief moved to the front as a team, and the pair battled through the stretch, with Enticed finally edging clear to win by a head.
Racing as a homebred for Godolphin, Enticed is out of It’s Tricky, winner of the G1 Acorn, G1 Coaching Club American Oaks, and G1 Ogden Phipps. It’s Tricky, a daughter of Mineshaft, is out of Catboat, winner of the G3 Arlington Breeders’ Cup Oaks.
Medaglia d’Oro is the sire of seven G1 winners in 2017, more than any other stallion in North America. His G1 winners this year include two Breeders’ Cup winners – Talismanic (Turf) and Bar Of Gold (Filly & Mare Sprint). Medaglia d’Oro is also the sire of the G1-winning three-year-old fillies New Money Honey and Elate; turf mare Dickinson; two-time G1 winning juvenile Bolt d’Oro; and two-time Eclipse Champion Songbird.
