Just minutes after two-year-old Helmet colt Met Spectrum landed the Listed Premio Vittorio Riva, his paternal half-brother Anda Muchacho provided their sire with a Black Type double on Saturday, 23 September when running out the convincing winner of the Premio Marchese Ippolito Fassati at Milan.
Anda Muchacho was settled in third position until asked to quicken two furlongs from home. The three-year-old colt soon moved up to take the lead and kept on superbly to win the nine-furlong contest by a length and a quarter.
This was the fourth career win for Anda Muchacho, who won the Italian 2,000 Guineas and the Listed Premio Gardone earlier this year.
Bred in Ireland by Thomas Hassett, Anda Muchacho is out of the unraced Shamardal mare Montefino, also dam of Group performer Parsley. The mare is herself a daughter of G2 Blandford Stakes winner Monturani.
He is one of seven Black Type winners to date for Helmet, who has sired a further seven horses who have made the frame at Stakes level. They are headed by multiple G1 winner Thunder Snow.
