Medaglia d’Oro's three-year-old daughter Elate earned her first Stakes victory on June 15th in the Light Hearted Stakes over one mile at Delaware Park.
At the back of the four-horse field early on, Elate made a three-wide move around the turn and went on to win going away by five and a half lengths. A debut maiden winner by 12 lengths at Aqueduct in November in an effort which earned her "TDN Rising Star" status, Elate was placed in the Suncoast Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs and the G3 Honeybee Stakes at Oaklawn Park earlier this year.
Elate was bred in Kentucky by her owners, Claiborne Farm and Adele B. Dilschneider. She is out of the Stakes-winning Distorted Humor mare Cheery, a daughter of G2 winner and G1-placed Yell, and a half to G1 winner Eastern Echo and multiple Graded Stakes winner Roar.
Elate is the ninth Stakes winner of the year for Medaglia d’Oro, who has also sired G1 winners Songbird and Dickinson and G3 winners Ever So Clever and New Money Honey in 2017.
Medaglia d’Oro will stand the 2017 breeding season at Kelvinside, for a fee of $110,000.
