Classy mare Dendee became Denman’s seventh individual Stakes winner on Saturday April 8, when she claimed the Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic over 1400m at Ascot racecourse.
After jumping cleanly Dendee settled off the pace and enjoyed an easy run under jockey Chris Parnham. The five-year-old mare loomed as the major threat to race leader Jestajingle (Lonhro) as the field turned for home to make it two consecutive wins this preparation.
Dendee was bred by Coral Park Stud and is the first foal out of the unraced mare Divine Deputy. Her dam’s half-siblings include Group 1 winning filly Montoya’s Secret, as well as the Group 3 winner Delago’s Secret.
Undefeated short of a mile after his debut, Denman was a superior speed horse who claimed the G1 Golden Rose Stakes during his racetrack career. Dendee joins paternal half-siblings Kuro, Fitocracy, Law and Merriest as his top performers.
