On day two of the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, all eyes were on the sale ring as Medaglia d'Oro's son catalogued as lot 178 from Yarraman Park started with an opening bid of $1 million, selling for sale-topping price of $2.4 million to a partnership made up of Coolmore Stud, Stonestreet Farm, Aquis Farm, Bluesky Bloodstock and Unifaith. The striking colt out of multiple Stakes-winning mare Hoss Amor is a record price for an Australian-bred Medaglia d’Oro yearling.
Medaglia d’Oro’s success continued with lot 217, a colt from Tyreel Stud going to George Moore Bloodstock for $650,000.Two more Medaglia d’Oro yearlings sold in excess of $350,000 including Yarraman Park Stud’s lot 216, a colt out of Stakes winner Madame Pedrille which sold to Insurance Direct Pty Ltd for $360,000 and a colt out of Group-winning mare Hurtle Myrtle from Segenhoe Stud which sold to The Hong Kong Jockey Club for $420,000. Averaging an impressive $606, 364 for his 11 lots sold at the close of day two.
Exceed And Excel had another outstanding day, highlighted by the Middlebrook Valley-consigned filly who is a half-sister to this season’s G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Divine Prophet, selling to Hawkes Racing for $1.2 million. This is an equal record priced Australian-bred yearling for the leading sire, who had a yearling sell for the same price at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale earlier this year. Not far behind in price was lot 267 from Bhima Thoroughbreds, a three-quarter sister to G1 Winner King’s Rose which sold to Moody Racing Pty Ltd for $1 million.
George Moore Bloodstock went to $675,000 to secure Exceed And Excel colt from Segenhoe Stud, catalogued as lot 675 while Gai Waterhouse and Marette Farrell secured the Exceed And Excel filly from Glastonbury Farm for $320,000.
Lonhro’s yearlings were also well received in the second session, with Snowden Racing going to $425,000 to secure lot 225 from Turangga Farm, a filly who is a sister to Group-placed Kangarilla Joy, while Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott purchased Corumbene Stud’s filly catalogued as lot 183 for $280,000.
