Championship is enjoying a tremendous season in Dubai and on 16 February he produced his best effort yet when winning the G2 Zabeel Mile.
The son of Exceed And Excel, who was formerly trained by Richard Hannon but is now under the care of A bin Harmash, always held a good position on the rails and when asked to quicken in the straight he did so impressively, running away from the field to win by two and three-quarter lengths. This victory comes on the back of a thrilling success in the G2 Al Fahdi Fort last month over a furlong less.
Championship was bred in Ireland by Natalie Cleary and is out of the Halling mare Aljafliyah, herself a half-sister to Stakes winner and G2 performer Sohgol (Singspiel).
Exceed And Excel sired 26 individual Black type winners in 2016, headed by multiple G1 winner Flamberge and record-breaking juvenile Yalta. His exceptional son Helmet, whose oldest crop are now three, was also responsible for runaway UAE 2,000 Guineas hero Thunder Snow last weekend.
