Multiple G3-winning son of Exceed And Excel, Thermal Current, added a fourth Stakes win to his record taking out the Listed W.J. Adams Stakes over 1000m at Caulfield on 4 February.
The Darren Weir-trained gelding settled behind midfield in the early stages but was able to weave a passage between horses on straightening and finished powerfully to grab victory in the final few strides.
Bred and raced by David and Jenny Moodie's Contract Racing Pty Ltd, Thermal Current is out of Stakes-winning Twining mare Soaressa, a half-sister to Stakes winners Assertive Eagle and Impressive Eagle.
Exceed And Excel has sired ten career G1 winners including four-time G1 winner Guelph, Golden Slipper winner Overreach and Blue Diamond Stakes winners Earthquake and Reward For Effort. He is also the sire of record-breaking Caulfield Guineas winner Helmet, a fellow Darley Stallion, as is his G2-winning son Sidestep.
