Promising Lonhro filly Ghisoni has made up for a luckless run at The Championships in Sydney in April with a strong on-pace victory in the G3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on May 28.
Ridden by James McDonald, the John O’Shea-trained filly worked across from a wide barrier to sit outside the leader before pulling clear in the final 200m to hold off the challenge of Cradle Me to win by a small but decisive margin at her first run for six weeks.‘
Ghisoni has now won four of her six starts which includes a victory in the G2 Surround Stakes (1400m) at Randwick in February.
Ghisoni is out of Red Ransom mare Portillo, herself a winner of the G2 Surround Stakes and the G2 Magic Night Stakes as a juvenile, and is from the family of talented stakes-performers Snowland and Snippetson. Ghisoni is Portillo’s second foal to race and has a weanling sister and is back in foal to Lonhro this season.
Lonhro, who has sired seven G1 winners, stands at Kelvinside for a fee of $88,000 inc, GST along with his G1-winning sons Exosphere ($27,500 inc. GST) and Denman ($11,000 inc. GST).
