Medaglia d’Oro set the sales ring alight on day two of the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney, 6 April.
Lot 315, a colt from the draft of Riversdale, became the highest-priced Medaglia d’Oro yearling sold in Australia when he was knocked down to China Horse Club and Winstar Farm for $700,000.
Just over an hour later however, that record priced was superseded when Yarraman Park Stud’s Medaglia d’Oro half-brother to G2 performer Kimberley Star sold to Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum for $875,000.
Shadwell Stud has been the leading buyer over the opening two days and on day two they purchased a Sepoy colt out of Irish Blues for $520,000. Consigned by Willow Park Stud, the colt hails from the family of G1 winners Shamrocker and Rock Diva.
Another key purchase for Shadwell Stud on day two was an Exceed And Excel filly out of Charmview from the Marquee Stud draft. Knocked down for $500,000, the filly is a sister to G2 performer Knight Exemplar.
The sale concludes today.
