Exceed And Excel sprinter Thermal Current has added to his Stakes record with victory in the Listed Hareeba Stakes (1200m) at Mornington on April 2.
Having his first start for trainer Darren Weir after previously being prepared by Peter Moody, Thermal Current enjoyed a nice run behind the speed for Harry Coffey and fought off the challengers to win by a quarter of a length.
It was Thermal Current’s fourth win from 25 starts and the two-time G3 winner’s third in Stakes company.
Bred and raced by David Moodie, Thermal Current is out of Twining mare Soaressa, a stakes winner and half-sister to Stakes winners Assertive Eagle and Impressive Eagle.
Souressa has had two foals to race with Thermal Current her sole winner but has an unraced Exceed And Excel two-year-old and is in foal to the same stallion again this season.
Exceed And Excel has 17 yearlings catalogued for next month’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale and they can be viewed by clicking here.
