Vashka, a son of Exceed And Excel, made it back-to-back Group victories with an all-the-way win in the G3 Moonga Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield, October 17.
Ridden aggressively out of the barriers by jockey James McDonald, Vashka set a strong pace throughout the race before kicking clear turning for home. The last-start winner of the G2 Shannon Stakes then had to fight off the late challenge of short-priced favourite Under The Louvre to record a determined victory.
Bred by Darley, Vashka is the seventh foal to race and first Stakes winner out of G2-placed Zabeel mare Zaroyale, as sister to Stakes winner Verb.
Exceed And Excel is Australia’s leading stallion by Stakes winners this season with seven individual winners at Black type level including G2 winners Pearls and Kinglike.
Exceed And Excel is standing at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 inc. GST alongside his G2-winning son Sidestep who stands at a fee of $11,000 inc. GST, while Helmet ($33,000 inc. GST) and Kuroshio ($8,800 inc. GST) stand at Northwood Park.
