Darley in Australia announces fees for the 2015 breeding season
Darley in Australia has announced a full list of stud fees for their 21 stallions that will stand in New South Wales and Victoria for the forthcoming breeding season.
World-leaders Exceed And Excel and Medaglia d'Oro head the roster and will both stand at a fee of $110,000 (inc. GST).
Exceed And Excel’s ability to produce top-class two-year-old performers has never been more evident than this season where he has set the pace with 12 winners and no fewer than five individual Stakes winners. He is once again poised to be crowned Champion two-year-old sire.
Hot on Exceed And Excel’s heels on the two-year-old sires’ list is Medaglia d’Oro, whose unbeaten son Vancouver became his 13th worldwide G1 winner when he claimed the Golden Slipper. In recent weeks, Medaglia d’Oro has sired Group winners in Australia, the United States and France, making this an incredible period of success for him.
Brazen Beau is currently the highest-rated three-year-old in the world and joins the Victorian roster at Northwood Park where he will stand at a fee of $44,000 (inc. GST). The brilliant winner of the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes last spring, he went on to defeat a world-class field of older sprinters in the G1 Newmarket Handicap last month. Brazen Beau now travels to Europe where he will aim to showcase his outstanding talent once again at Royal Ascot in June.
Unbeaten Group-winning juvenile and multiple G1 winner Hallowed Crown retires to Kelvinside in New South Wales, the resting place of his legendary grandsire Street Cry and will stand at $33,000 (inc. GST). Following his victories in the G1 Golden Rose and G1 Randwick Guineas, only Brazen Beau was rated his superior among three-year-olds of 2014-15. Hallowed Crown is out of the Group-winning Golden Slipper second Crowned Glory and hails from the family of Champion stallion Zabeel.
Also runner-up in his Golden Slipper, Exceed And Excel’s exceptionally talented son Sidestep will stand alongside Hallowed Crown at Kelvinside at a fee of $11,000 (inc. GST). Winner of the G2 Pago Pago Stakes, Sidestep was the highest-rated two-year-old colt of his generation and claimed multiple Stakes victories at three including the G2 Royal Sovereign Stakes, where he defeated G1 winners Bounding and Chautauqua.
Alastair Pulford, Darley’s Head of Sales in Australia said, “It has been another fantastic 12 months for our stallions and we are very proud of their achievements on the racetrack. Our stallions have sired the winners of 24% of the Group races run in Australia this season, including 11 G1 victories.
“We have just come away from an incredible Easter sale where their progeny were in huge demand, in particular Sepoy who set a new Australian record for a yearling by a first-season sire when his son out of Ancient Song was sold by Turangga Farm for $1.6 million.”
Pulford continued, “It promises to be an exciting year ahead and we very much look forward to welcoming breeders to Darley in the coming months to see our stallions and discuss their mating plans.”
