Swinger’s Party takes the Millions Distaff Preview
Medaglia d'Oro’s four-year-old filly Swinger’s Party held on in the final strides to score her first career Stakes victory in the Millions Distaff Preview Stakes at Gulfstream Park West on November 8th.
In the one-mile race, Swinger’s Party broke well and made a three wide move around the first turn to be third down the backstretch. She made another three wide move around the second turn to easily take the lead, started to pull away in the stretch, and held off a late charge from longshot Flutterby to win by three-quarters of a length. Previously placed in the Cellars Shiraz Stakes at Gulfstream and the Nancy’s Glitter Handicap at Calder, the Millions Distaff Preview was her first stakes win.
Bred in Florida by Farnsworth Stables, Swinger’s Party is out of the winning Stormin Fever mare Franscat. She is a half-sister to G3-placed Powhatan County, as well as recent Armed Forces Stakes winner and promising two-year-old colt Hubba Shake, by Street Sense.
Medaglia d'Oro’s top runners this year include G1 Gulfstream Park Handicap winner Lochte, G1 Just A Game winner Coffee Clique, and well-bred G3 Pilgrim Stakes winner Imperia. He is also the sire of 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty, and G1-winning turf mare Marketing Mix.
Medaglia d'Oro is standing the current Australian breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 (Inc. GST).
