Highway Boss posts game win in Everett Nevin Stakes
Two-year-old Street Boss colt Highway Boss certainly brought the drama July 6 with a last second score in the Everett Nevin Stakes at Oak Tree at Pleasanton. Securing his second win in a row, Highway Boss broke his maiden last time out at Santa Anita.
In the five-and-one-half furlong race Highway Boss patiently remained in sixth, toward the back of the field. In the stretch the son of Street Boss came on strong and got up in the final stages to seal the win.
Bred by Ernest C. Frohboese, Highway Boss is the first foal for Sage Mist, a half-sister to Graded-placed Un Fino Vino and Ketchikan, as well as the dam of Stakes winner and G1-placed Belle Of The Hall. The family traces back to Champion Ambitious Cat and G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Blushing K. D.
A G1-winning son of the great Street Cry, Street Boss has been represented by Stakes winners from all three crops to race. He sired impressive G1 King's Bishop winner Capo Bastone from his first crop, as well as G1 Arkansas Derby winner and G1 Kentucky Derby-placed Danza from his second. Now three-year-olds, Street Boss' first Australian-bred crop includes G3 performer The Quarterback and Saturday's impressive Caulfield winner Thiamandi, both winners of over $200,000 in prizemoney.
Street Boss will stand the coming season at Northwood Park at a fee of $11,000 inc. GST.
