Belle d'Or beautiful in Distaff Stakes
It was two years ago that Street Cry filly and G3 winner Falls Of Lora won the Listed Distaff Stakes at Sandown, and now another Darley stallion was responsible for a winner after Medaglia d'Oro filly Belle d'Or asserted herself for the victory.
The three-year-old John Gosden-trainee put forward a strong effort in the final furlong to finish fast and land the one-mile turf event.
Bred by Hascombe Stud, Belle d'Or is out of the G3-winning Rainbow Quest mare Glatisant, who has also produced G1 winners Footstepsinthesand and Pedro The Great, as well as Frappe, the dam of Group winners Thakafaat and Power.
Belle d'Or marks the 55th Stakes winner for Medaglia d'Oro, who has sired such fantastic runners as Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra, G1-winning turf mare Marketing Mix, and a second G1 Kentucky Oaks winner in Plum Pretty. His oldest Australian-bred progeny are two-year-olds and include Spring hopefuls Nostradamus, Thalia, Shaumari and Meursault among others.
Medaglia d'Oro is standing the coming breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 inc. GST.
