Coffee Clique roasts them in G2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile
Medaglia d'Oro filly Coffee Clique kicked off the Stakes action on Kentucky Derby day with a bang, winning the G2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile Stakes for Amerman Racing LLC. Entering off a win at Gulfstream, the four-year-old filly was a winner of the G3 Selene Stakes at Woodbine at three.
In the one-mile turf race Coffee Clique settled in prime position in fourth to track the pace. At the top of the stretch she made her move along the inside and dug in in the final strides to take the win.
Bred in Kentucky by Mrs. Jerry Amerman, Coffee Clique is out of the Royal Academy mare Miss Chapin, a daughter of Stakes winner and Graded Stakes-placed Society Dream.
Medaglia d'Oro has had a fantastic 2014 with G1 Gulfstream Park Handicap winner Lochte, G2 Al Zabeel Mile victor Mshawish, and two G3 winners Golden Lad and Micromanage. These runners join rank with some of the sire's other top runners, including renowned Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra, G1 CashCall Futurity winner Violence, and G1-winning turf mare Marketing Mix.
As the sire of six southern hemisphere juveniles, Medaglia d'Oro will stand the upcoming southern hemisphere breeding season at a fee of $55,000 (inc. GST) at Darley Kelvinside.
