Street Boss colt Danza takes G1 Arkansas Derby by five lengths
Three-year-old Street Boss colt Danza smoked the field April 12 in the G1 Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn in preparation for the G1 Kentucky Derby. With the win, the colt becomes the second G1 winner for his sire.
In the 1800m race Danza was positioned in third to track the early pace. Rounding the far turn the colt put forward a tremendous run and couldn't be caught in the stretch as he won by five lengths.
Bred by Liberation Farm & Brandywine Farm, Danza is out of the Stakes-placed French Deputy mare Champagne Royale, and is a half-brother to recent G3 Tokyo City Cup Stakes winner at Santa Anita Majestic Harbor.
Danza's G1 victory comes on the heels of another US G1 winner for Darley stallions, as Hard Not To Like (Hard Spun) was victorious in the G1 Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland. Other top runners for Street Boss, a son of super-sire Street Cry, include last year's G1 King's Bishop Stakes winner at Saratoga Capo Bastone.
