Qewy too good in the Heritage

One has to go all the way back to August 22nd, 2006, to find Street Cry’s first-ever Stakes winner when his first-crop son Big Timer won the G3 Acomb in just his third career start. That was also the year that Street Sense won the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile en route to being crowned North America’s champion two-year-old.

Fast forward to April 3, 2014, and Street Cry is still going strong with runners like Qewy whose victory in the Heritage Stakes at Leopardstown brings to 73 his sire’s total number of career blacktype winners.

Qewy was quickest out of the gate in the one-mile listed event and the four-year-old made every call a winning one while hitting the wire three lengths clear of the field.

Bred by Darley in Ireland, Qewy is out of the Stakes winning, G2-placed Princess Nada, a half-sister to Darley's top-tier stallion Dubawi and G2 winner Emirates Queen.

In addition to Big Timer and Street Sense, Street Cry is the sire of 31 additional Group or Graded winners, 10 in G1 company, including the great Zenyatta, 2013 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner New Year’s Day, in addition to Melbourne Cup winner Shocking, and Caulfiled Guineas winners Whobegotyou and Long John.
