Fourth winner for Denman
Denman recorded his fourth individual winner with just his 10th starter when Kuro easily accounted for his rivals on debut in a 1000m two-year-old maiden at Hawkesbury, March 13.
A dominant trial winner prior to his racetrack debut, Kuro jumped smartly from an outside barrier and crossed the field to sit outside the leader. Despite racing greenly in the straight, he careered away for an impressive two-length victory.
Most impressed by the flashy son of Denman following the win, jockey James McDonald said; “He’s a very promising colt. He has everything you could ask for in a nice horse. He won with a lot in hand and he will definitely go on with it.”
Bred by Tim Hughes, Kuro is the second foal of Stakes-placed Orientate mare Distinctive Lass, a granddaughter of former star sprinting mare Special.
The sire of Listed Breeders’ Plate winner Law and Stakes-placed filly Piacenza, Denman will be represented by 11 yearlings at next month’s Inglis Easter yearling sale. Click here to view their pedigrees.
