Reload rules in G3 Canadian Turf Stakes
Reload, a son of Hard Spun, earned his first Graded Stakes win February 22 with an exciting score in the G3 Canadian Turf Stakes at Gulfstream.
In the one-mile turf race, the Phipps homebred tucked just behind the leaders in third position. In the stretch, Reload slipped along the inside to take on the lead and battled in the stretch before coming away a winner.
Reload is out of the Graded Stakes-placed Mr. Prospector mare Hidden Reserve, who has produced two other Graded Stakes winners in Philanthropist and Defer. Hidden Reserve is a half-sister to Champion Inside Information and a full-sister to multiple G1 winner Educated Risk. The mare has a two-year-old colt by Medaglia d'Oro.
Reload marks the eighth Group/Graded Stakes winner for Hard Spun, who sired two G1 winners in his first American crop - Eclipse Champion Questing and G1 Mother Goose Stakes winner Zo Impressive. Hard Spun recorded his fourth and fifth Australian Stakes winners last weekend when Spinning Jenny won the Listed Strutt Stakes at Hobart and Spin da Wheels took out the Listed Challenge Stakes in Perth.
Hard Spun will be represented by six yearlings at next week's Melbourne Premier yearling sale. To view their pedigrees, click here.
