Paximadia prevails in G3 Carbine Club Stakes
Impeccably bred Commands colt Paximadia became the 29th Group winner for his sire with an all-the-way victory in the G3 Carbine Club Stakes over 1600m at Flemington, November 2.
A winner of the Listed Gothic Stakes in similar fashion at the same track last month, Paximadia jumped smartly from the barriers and controlled the race from the outset. Challenged strongly over the concluding stages, the three-year-old fought strongly to win by a half-length.
A homebred for Darley, Paximadia is the first living foal of imported Fantastic Light mare Latona, a winner in France over 2600m. Latona is a granddaughter of Helen Street, the dam of G1 Dubai World Cup winner and Darley stallion Street Cry. Helen Street is also the granddam of four-time G1 winner Shamardal.
The sire of 60 Stakes winners including nine G1 winners, among them Darley stallion Skilled, as well as Epaulette, Commanding Jewel and Appearance, no stallion had more G1 wins in the 2012/13 Australian racing season than Commands. He is standing the current breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 inc. GST, while Skilled stands at Northwood Park at a fee of $6,600 inc. GST.
