Speckled solid in Listed win in Great Britain
Coming off of a strong three and one-quarter length victory at Kempton last out, Street Cry’s daughter Speckled, owned by Godolphin, continued her winning ways at Lingfield on October 31st to improve her career record to two wins a third from three career starts.
Speckled broke alertly out of the gate and quickly raced to the lead which she never relinquished in her wire-to-wire victory.
Bred by Darley in Ireland, Speckled is a half-sister to the multiple Graded winner Skylighter (dam of Street Cry’s Stakes-placed daughter Sky Painter who is entered in the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Fillies), and to the Stakes-placed Brushed Gold. Her dam, Painted Lady, is out of four-time G1 winner Nastique, who has produced G1 winner Nobo True as well as G3 winner Thunder Kitten (dam of G2 winner Michita and Stakes winner Willing Foe).
Speckled becomes Street Cry’s 35th Stakes performer in 2013, a list that includes 19 Group or Graded horses, including his 14th career G1 winner in Long John, winner of the G1 Caulfield Guineas earlier this month. His 13 other winners at the highest level include Horse of the Year Zenyatta as well as Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense and multiple G1 winner Street Boss, both now the sire of G1 winners and both with entries in G1 races at this weekend’s Breeders’ Cup Championship Day at Santa Anita.
Street Cry is standing the current breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 (inc. GST), while his record-breaking son Street Boss stands at Northwood Park at a fee of $11,000 (inc. GST).
