Vegas No Show cashes in at Belmont
Dismissed as the longest shot in the field in the 1700m Coastal Stakes at Belmont on October 9, Hard Spun's Vegas No Show showed his last-out Stakes win at Delaware Park was no fluke as he got his head in front at the wire to win his third career added-money event.
Breaking alertly in third at the beginning of the race, Vegas No Show found himself in front of only one horse at the 800m mark. However, he steadily advanced until the field reached the stretch and was then able to race through a bit of trouble to find himself in front at the wire.
Vegas No Show, bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, LLC, in Kentucky, is a half-brother to G1 Whitney winner Bullsbay, to G3 winner Our Khrysty and to Listed winner Hidden Expression. He is out of the multiple Stakes-placed mare The Hess Express.
In addition to Vegas No Show, Hard Spun has sired 26 Stakes performers in 2013 and he will be represented by the promising Late Charge in this weekend's G1 Caulfield Guineas.
Hard Spun stands at Northwood Park for a fee of $16,500 inc. GST.
