Hard Enough rolls in Jersey Derby
Hard Enough, a three-year-old son of Hard Spun, was unstoppable July 20 winning the Jersey Derby at Monmouth Park. In the 1700m turf race Hard Enough comfortably tracked the pace in second. On the final turn the colt went three-wide to take on the top position, and cleared away in the stretch for the score.
Hard Enough was bred by Larry Johnson and is out of the Mr Greeley mare Grecian Wings, a winner of the Twist Afleet Stakes.
Hard Enough becomes the 22nd Stakes winner for his sire Hard Spun, whose best runners include 2012 Eclipse Champion Three-Year-Old Filly Questing and G1 winner Zo Impressive. Among his top 2013 horses in Australia is the undefeated Stakes winner Royal Haunt. A son of Danzig, Hard Spun has a strong six Graded or Group winners and a total of 18 Graded performers to date in his career.
Hard Spun will stand the forthcoming southern hemisphere season at Darley's Victorian farm Northwood Park at a fee of $16,500 (inc. GST).
