Coffee Clique roasts them in G3 Selene Stakes
There was no catching Medaglia d'Oro filly Coffee Clique in the G3 Selene Stakes May 19 at Woodbine, and with the victory her sire notched his 22nd Graded Stakes winner.
During the 1700m race the filly broke well and kept position near the back of the field. Steadily advancing, the filly asserted herself at the top of the straight and cruised home for a four-length win.
Bred in Kentucky by Mrs Jerry Amerman, the three-year-old filly is out of Royal Academy mare Miss Chapin, who is out of Stakes winner and Graded-placed mare Society Dream.
Coffee Clique is the second black type winner of the weekend for Medaglia d'Oro, whose daughter Treasured Up took the Keertana Stakes on the turf at Churchill Downs May 18. Medaglia d'Oro's 22 Graded/Group winners on all surfaces include renowned Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra and G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty. He has recently been represented by G1-winning turf mare Marketing Mix and G1 CashCall Futurity victor Violence.
Medaglia d'Oro will stand the coming breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 inc. GST.
