Taxmeifyoucan too classy in Guineas

Having produced some very good efforts of late at Stakes level, three-year-old Ad Valorem gelding Taxmeifyoucan travelled to Scone on 18 May to  win his second race, taking out the Restricted Listed Inglis 3yo Guineas over 1400m.

The final race in the Inglis race series for graduates of their 2011 yearling sales, the $500,000 race attracted a quality line up of three-year-old's looking to capitalise on the lucrative prizemoney.

After jumping away from one of the widest gates in the 17 horse field, jockey Blake Shinn went forward on the Greg Hickman-trained gelding to sit midfield, albeit in a wide position.

As the field rounded the home turn, Shinn asked his galloper for an effort and it looked as if his wide run may have taken its toll, but the son of Ad Valorem knuckled down extremely well to chase down the leaders to hit the lead at the 200m mark, pulling away for a comprehensive length-and-a-half victory from G3 winner Lunar Rise and the previously unbeaten Chewychop.

Bred by Mr GK Harris, Taxmeifyoucan is out of the Lycius mare Tis Hopeful, herself a daughter of the Stakes performed Miami Vice. From the family of Stakes winners Encores, Rubijon, Irradiate, Stage Hit and Sir Laurence, Taxmeifyoucan has now raced on ten occasions for seven top-three finishes and over $450,000 in career earnings.

The sire of ten Stakes winners including G2 winners Free Wheeling, Pied A Terre and Meliora, Ad Valorem will stand the forthcoming breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $11,000 (inc. GST).
