Second Stakes win for Ad Valorem mare
Ad Valorem mare Julie’s Love produced a great turn of foot to claim her second Stakes victory on 1 May, winning the Listed Owsley Stakes over 2000m on the turf at Belmont Park in New York.
A winner of the Listed De Rose Stakes over 1600m at Saratoga last year, Julie’s Love was having her second start back following a long spell.
After settling in behind the speed, the five-year-old mare darted through a narrow gap between runners soon after straightening and put the race beyond doubt in a matter of strides.
Bred by T E Pocock, Julie’s Page began her racing career in Germany and was a runner-up at G2 level there before arriving in America last year. She is out of the unraced Mark Of Esteem mare Skimmia, a half-sister to G3 winner Golden Sword, from the family of Champion filly Alexandrova.
With six G1 or G2 performers in his first two Australian crops, including G2 winners Free Wheeling, Pied A Terre and Meliora , Ad Valorem will stand the coming breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $11,000 inc. GST.
