Lonhro filly becomes the 38th Stakes winner for her sire
Stepping up to Stakes class for the first time, in fact going from a Ballarat maiden to a G2 event in the space of a month, exciting Lonhro filly Lonhspresso indicated that she is a filly of some class, winning the G2 Centrebet Classic over 1200m at Morphettville on 11 March.
Defeating Bernardini gelding Essay Raider, Dubawi filly Shamal Wind and Elusive Quality colt Rusambo, Lonhspresso has recorded three wins and two second places from only five career starts to date for her Ballarat-based trainer Darren Weir.
Bred by Ruane Stud, Lonhspresso is out of the Grand Lodge mare As Simple As That, a half-sister to G3 winner Millennium Diamond and the Listed placed Validator. From the family of G1 performers Staging, Duport, Excites, Tickets and Delago Delux, Lonhspresso is bred on a pedigree cross that has also produced Lonhro Stakes performers Raspberries, Quidnunc, Dissolved, Status Quo and Segolene.
With 24 yearlings catalogue for the forthcoming Inglis Easter yearling sale, Lonhro was responsible for a back to back Stakes double after Court Connection took out the Listed Canberra Cup yesterday.
